ITS Profiles – Thank You.

•November 7, 2007 • 2 Comments

Today I will be reporting on my subscription to the ITS Profiles database service. Up until six months ago my company was a subscriber to iprofile. We were very please with iprofile but had noticed that in recent months they appeared to have lost their focus and were starting to overlap with the content we got with our subscription to Hoovers. We had talked to ITS Profiles in the past and were impressed with the depth that their org charts provided on Fortune 500 IT departments so, when our subscription was up, we switched over. It has only been six months and, with the data provided to us by ITS Profiles , we have generated more interest in our product than we ever did with any of our other data providers. For us, this has been one of those rare occasions when both sales and marketing agreed on what we should purchase. It seems as we will only continue to grow our sales as ITS Profiles updates their database every quarter and sends us an email every month with all the org charts that have “undergone major updates”.

Internet Marketers Need to Get A Clue

•October 26, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Why are so many of the people in the Internet marketing department for software companies so clueless?

For the past few weeks I have been reminded on a daily basis how stupid the average person in the Internet marketing department at many companies is.  I have people in my department who seem to have never read a basic marketing text.

I have also been reading a lot of really bad blogs by “software marketers” who seem to be doing nothing more than showing the world how stupid they are on the company’s dime.  I have suggestions for both of these groups to help them improve:

To the first group; read “Marketing” by Richard L Sandhusen from Barron’s Business Review Books 3rd edition. This will help you losers learn the basics.

To the second group; go get a horse and live in the mountains where you can’t bother anyone.  If you don’t like that one I guess you can delete your blog (this is to avoid letting anyone who has not already read it find out you are an idiot) and then get back to work.

Jigsaw now offers email lists???

•October 12, 2007 • Leave a Comment

My assistant was just at jigsaw looking for some small market IT contacts (contacts are good about 40%of the time) when she found that jigsaw now offers clients email lists.  At first I thought that this would be good, but then I wondered how jigsaw will compensate for the fact that their data is only about 40% accurate.  I sent an email to their new “list department” and am waiting for a response on this one.  If anyone has any information on this please share with all of us.

SAP User List

•September 3, 2007 • 2 Comments

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a minute and talk about a new sales tool we just used that is about to help us take some accounts from SAP.  The site is SAPuserlist.com . SAP User List sells a list of Fortune 1000 companies which contains the name, title, phone number, address, and email for IT purchase decision makers.  The list is great because it is updated every 60 days and we plan on ordering it again next quarter. It appears that the list is geared toward SAP partners, helping them find out what companies run SAP (for some reason SAP does not share its client list with its partners) and then identify who they need to talk to.  It also seems like it could be a tool for recruiters.  Like I said, we used it to market our competing services and it seems to be working.  As with all my other postings I encourage you to share your experiences with this product, as well as alternative uses.

ITS Profiles.

We have recently signed up for ITS Profiles.  It looks good so far. As long as you do not work for one of my competitors, I recommend it!
